Gary A. Toranzos-Soria, a native of Cochabamba, Bolivia earned his Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in 1985 in Environmental Virology. After a post-doctoral position at the University of Florida, he relocat-ed to the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus where continues to conduct research in environmental microbiology. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement in Science and the American Academy of Microbiology. Toranzos Soria has served the Health-Related Water Microbiology as a member and board member for over 20 and 10 years respectively.
